LE MANS, France, (June 10, 2013) – Cooper MacNeil made his first laps behind the wheel of the Larbre Competition No. 70 WeatherTech/Chevrolet Corvette C6.R during yesterday’s official practice day in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans to run June 22-23 at Circuit de la Sarthe.

The 20-year-old University of Colorado at Boulder college student got behind the wheel of the WeatherTech Corvette in a rainstorm on Sunday morning.

“My first laps at Le Mans were in the wet, of course,” MacNeil said. “Jason Statham said it perfectly: “It always rains at Le Mans.” My first stint in the car went well as I was just trying to learn the track. I was on a full wet setup with Michelin rain tires. The track was quite slick as most of it is run on public roads that are covered in a year’s worth of diesel and oil. The rain amplifies the issue, but as more cars ran the grip began to improve.” Read More »

MONTEREY, Calif. (May 11, 2013) – Cooper MacNeil and Jeroen Bleekemolen finished third in GTC in today’s running of the American Le Mans Grand Prix of Monterey at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

MacNeil (Hinsdale, ILL) had the wheel of the No. 22 WeatherTech Porsche for the start of the four hour race. The University of Colorado at Boulder student put in a fast first stint handing the black and white Porsche over to Bleekemolen (Monte Carlo) on lap 60 in the lead in GTC. Bleekemolen proceeded to run at the front during the last hour and thirty minutes of the race. In the last pit stop the team had a right front lug nut hang up, costing valuable time. With 20 laps remaining, Bleekemolen radioed the crew about something amiss on the left front of the WeatherTech Porsche. The problem forced him to slow giving up second position and eventually settling for third. Read More »
